Apple recently refreshed the base model iPad with the A16 chip. Well, according to the App Store listing for Final Cut Pro for iPad, it appears that the iPad variant of the popular non-linear video editor will be compatible with the base model iPad for the first time. It’s possible, given that we’re only a day and a half from launch, that this is an error… but I’m hoping it’s not!

The A16 chip in iPad (A16) — similar to the same chip found in the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max and iPhone 15 models, with one disabled GPU core — brings a huge improvement to performance and a ton of features compared to the older models, so naturally, Apple could allow their most demanding Pro apps to run on it simply to showcase how well Apple silicon performs, even on their “budget” devices.
