Sometimes You Just Can’t Win, And That’s Okay
It’s a lesson I wish I learned sooner. Sometimes you just, no matter which choice is made, lose. How I handle that has changed over the years. I used to be paralyzed when faced with a “trolley problem.” Now, that’s not the case. I try to make an informed decision, with all the information I can possibly gather, no matter what. I try not to make split decisions.
Do I still make impulse decisions? Of freaking course. I’m human, I make mistakes, it happens. But I try to atone for those in the moment instead of covering them up. I feel that the general consciousness has accepted that “cancel culture” isn’t toxic, and justified. And to some extent, perhaps, it is justified. But there’s a limit, too. We need to give people more grace and the space required to actually make a change…. not constantly break them down.
Look, any loss is tough. Losing something or someone you care about, or that you rely on, is tough. It’s heartbreaking, even traumatizing. But the reality is, well, that’s life. Life’s amazing, but also sucks. It keeps you on your toes. Keeps you humble. And for me, at least, that’s what makes it worth it.
My advice? Make mistakes. Learn from them and don’t make them again. Do something crazy with your friends. Understand that sometimes, you just don’t win. Process the loss, get back up, and go take the bull by horns and go freaking win. I mean it.

Apple is Reportedly Redesigning the Magic Mouse »
From Joe Rossignol today, via Mark Gurman:
In December, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said Apple was working on a redesigned Magic Mouse with a relocated charging port. However, it will take some time to arrive, as he does not expect a launch until 2026 at the earliest.
As someone who uses a Magic Mouse now, I deeply appreciate this if it’s true. Give me a relocated charging port, significantly improved ergonomics, while retaining the gesture based navigation that I rely on–and I’ll be forever even further in your debt.

Working Rare Apple-1 Model Sells at Auction for $375,000 »
I thought this was pretty cool, MacRumors is reporting that a working model of the Apple-1 has sold at auction for $375,000. It is reported as number 91 in the Apple-1 Database–which tracks the known remaining units of the machine out in the wild. As for why it went for so much?
Well, it’s rare, but MacRumors also notes:
The Bayville Apple-1 was part of the first batch of Apple-1 machines sold in 1976, and it has a handwritten serial number that was likely penned by Steve Jobs. It was sold with an original manual with a handwritten note by Daniel Kottke, who was Apple employee number 12.
Neat bit of history!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Turns Five »
I feel so old, but Animal Crossing: New Horizons is five years old today. I love the Animal Crossing series so much, and I remember the excitement of pre-ordering the game, and being so eager to jump out of bed and play the game on release day that I barely slept. Animal Crossing will always hold a special place in my heart.
I’ve linked one of the original trailers for you. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next entry in the series!
