I’m a nerd, so I have many devices — most of which I use every single day. Here’s how my tech and life are set up.
Desktop
My desktop is a 27″ Intel-based iMac with 16GB of RAM, a 1TB spinning hard drive, and some AMD graphics card. I will likely upgrade the hard drive to an SSD and the graphics card later as a side project. We’ll see.
Laptops
Yes, plural. There are two laptops here. One’s for games, the other’s for my daily use.
2022 13″ M2 MacBook Pro
I’m one of the only people who really loved the Touch Bar, so I have one of those. I got this for Christmas from my wonderful parents in 2022, which replaced my 2011 Intel-based MacBook Pro. It has 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.
Since I travel a lot to visit friends and work on a ton of freelance projects, despite having an iMac, this laptop is my daily machine. I sync my files to iCloud, though, so I don’t have to worry about stuff being out of date when I turn on my iMac.
When I’m home, I dock with some random Anker adapter my dad found on Amazon to a VIOTEK 32″ NB32CB monitor I got for my 18th birthday back during the pandemic. It’s not the best thing you can get midrange anymore, but I love it so I’ll wait until it gets run all the way into the ground before replacing it!
Lenovo Ideapad 3 Gaming 15ACH6 (82K2)
I got this for Christmas in 2021 to replace my outgoing Windows desktop and “Gateway” (Walmart) Windows laptop, both of which were on their very last legs. It has an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, 32GB of DDR4-3200 Crucial RAM (runs at DDR4-2667 due to BIOS limitations), a 512GB Sabrent Rocket M.2 nVME SSD for boot, as well as a 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA SSD for storage. If it didn’t have Windows 11, it’d easily be my primary work machine. Alas, Windows sucks, so it’s not. This may become a Linux machine (Pop!_OS) eventually.
Phones
My personal SIM floats between an iPhone 13 Pro Max and a Pixel 6. I can never decide which I want to use, but I have always preferred Android, oddly enough. Even if my SIM card remains in an iPhone. (I also generally get better cell coverage on the Pixel line with AT&T for some reason.)
I do have two phone numbers on two different networks. That makes things somewhat easier…
Here are the configurations for both, if you are curious (GSMArena Comparison):
- Pixel 6: Stormy Black, 128GB, Google Tensor (G1),
- iPhone 13 Pro Max: Sierra Blue, 128GB, A15 Bionic
Tablets
I use an iPad (A16) — aka: the 11th generation model — as my primary tablet. My secondary tablet is a Google Pixel Tablet (Tensor G2). Generally speaking, tablet apps are extremely good on iPadOS. There are a couple small apps that are good on Android, but that’s because they’re not available for the iPad!
Audio
I rock a pair AirPods Pro (2nd generation) for music on-the-go, or while I’m doing chores or need to filter out noise around me. Nothing comes close to the quality, even on Android, so I’m completely fine using these on whatever device via Bluetooth — even if that means I miss out on Apple-specific functionality when not connected to my Apple products. That stuff’s just a bonus to me.
For audio at my desk, that’s handled by “ol’ reliable” — my LG CM4360(C7)’s from probably nearly a decade ago. They might be a little dated and have some issues with randomly turning off when there’s audio playing for some reason, but they sound fantastic.
