The Search for Good Alternatives

☼ TIME LINK:

Hey everyone! I’ve been eyeing a potential return to Android for quite some time now, and I guess I could use your help. I’m trying to find alternatives to some of the apps I love on iOS. Some do have Mac counterparts I can use, but I’d prefer something cross-platform between my phone and Mac. Here’s a list of what I’m looking for:

  • Mastodon client — I use Ivory on my Mac and iPhone, pretty much spending my entire day in it these days. Currently trying Tusky on the green side of the fence, not sure it’s my speed but feels kinda like Ivory in a sense
  • RSS reader — I use Reeder. It’s really good, and it syncs between my iPhone and Mac. I’d be okay with anything else, I really use this because Apple News is so mid.
  • Email client — This needs to be something that works across my phone and computer, and preferably one that can also write in plain-text on mobile since I contribute to several projects that require sending messages to plain-text mailing lists. That’s not a hard requirement, but in the rare chance that I need to reply to something while I’m away from my computer, it’s a nice-to-have.

If you have any suggestions (even if they’re not on this list of things I’m looking for!), please throw me a Mastodon ping (@[email protected]) or skeet me on Bluesky. I could really use the help!
