Setup

I’m a nerd, so I have many devices — most of which I use every single day. Here’s how my tech and life are set up.

If you’d like to see the scripts I use to automate the setup of all my computers, visit slade.link/scripts!

My Mac Studio (M4 Max) and Eevee (AMD Ryzen 9 9900X) computers are connected together with a UGREEN HDMI KVM Switch that has two ports for each of my two Acer XV272U W2 monitors. I have the button taped next to where I sit at my desk, so I can swap between them easily (the KVM itself is kind of tucked away). I also have an Elgato Stream Deck Mk. 2 in White.

I use Google Titan Security Keys.

Mac Studio (M4 Max)

I use an Mac Studio equipped with an M4 Max chip (16-core CPU, 40-core GPU, 2TB SSD) as my primary Mac desktop.

Here’s the software I run on the daily:

MacBook Pro (14-inch, M4 Pro)

I use a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip (14-core CPU/20-core GPU, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD) as my primary Mac laptop for work.

Here’s the software I run on the daily:

Eevee

The first of, I presume to be, many desktop PCs over the next few decades to be named after Eeveelutions.

Here are the specs (someone’s going to ask):

And then here’s the software I run on the daily:

Signal is a must on all these.

I daily drive a Nintendo Switch 2 (Mario Kart World Bundle) and a New Nintendo 3DS XL (Galaxy Edition). I also have a Backbone One (USB-C) attachment for my phones specifically for Pokémon.

Apple iPad Pro 13-inch (M4)

I use the iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) equipped with 512GB of storage as my primary tablet/laptop. Generally speaking, tablet apps are extremely good on iPadOS so I keep this around.

Apple iPad (A16)

One of my friends and I use an Apple iPad (A16) equipped with 128GB of storage — aka: the 11th generation model — as a giant media remote for the Apple TV in our office!

I rock a pair of AirPods Pro (2nd generation) and Pixel Buds Pro 2 for music on-the-go, or while I’m doing chores or need to filter out noise around me.

Ventgarden Leviathan

Ventgarden is a single-purpose server that hosts Nerd In Sight, my tech-focused publication. It’s nothing special and there’s not much to say about it. It is located in Washington, DC.
